Who we are

This website is operated by Nuttall Brown & Coutts, a Utah law firm, 6925 Union Park Center, Suite 210, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84047, (801) 255-2102.

Contacting us does not make us your lawyer

Reading this site, filling out our form, calling or texting us does not create an attorney-client relationship. We are not your lawyers until we both sign a written agreement. Please don't send confidential details or medical records until we have confirmed we can help you.

What we collect

  • Information you give us. If you use our case-review form, we collect your name, phone number, the state where it happened, and your short description of what happened. If you call or text us, we have your phone number, the time of the call or text, and what you tell us.
  • Information about an injury. What you tell us about a burn or other injury may be health information. See Consumer health data below.
  • Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, for security and to keep the site running. Our form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam; it checks your browser and may process your IP address and device information for that purpose. When you send the form, we keep a record of the consent wording you saw, which boxes you checked, the time, your IP address, your browser type and the page you used. This consent record does not include your name, phone number or what you wrote about your injury. We store it with our website host, separately from your form details, for as long as we need it to show that you gave consent or that we honored an opt-out, and to meet our legal obligations.
  • Cookies and analytics. We may use Vercel Web Analytics to see how the site is used. It collects aggregated, cookieless page-view and usage data, such as which pages are visited, the referring site, and general device, browser and country information. It does not use cookies, is not used for advertising, and is not used to build profiles of individual visitors. It does not receive anything you type into our form, and we never use health information for advertising. We do not sell your information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Advertising. This site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or remarketing tags. We do not build remarketing or Customer Match lists from site visitors or leads, and we do not use what you tell us about an injury to target ads.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to your inquiry, check for conflicts of interest, decide whether we can help, contact you about your inquiry, keep the site secure, improve the site, and meet our legal and professional duties.

We treat inquiries as confidential

As lawyers, we have a professional duty to protect information from people who ask us for help, even if we don't take the case. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We keep a short record of each inquiry so we can check for conflicts of interest.

Who we share it with

We share your information only:

  • with service providers that help us run the site and our office: our website host, form and email providers, phone and texting providers, case-management software, and analytics. They may use it only to provide services to us and must keep it confidential;
  • with a local attorney licensed in your state, if we work with one on your case as allowed by local rules, and only with your consent;
  • when required by law, such as a court order, or to protect our legal rights.

Consumer health data

What you tell us about an injury may count as "consumer health data" under laws in Washington, Nevada, Connecticut and other states. We collect it only to respond to your request for a case review and only with your consent, which you give by checking the box on our form. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it except as described above, and we share it with a local attorney (as allowed by local rules) only with your separate consent. You may ask to see it, delete it, or withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us (see Your choices and how to make a request). Withdrawing consent does not undo anything we did before you withdrew it, and we may need to keep a limited record as described under "How long we keep it."

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, to meet our legal and professional obligations, or to resolve disputes, and then we delete it or make it anonymous. For people who do not become clients, we keep only a short conflict-check record (name, other parties involved and date) once we no longer need the details. Records of texting consent and opt-outs are kept as long as needed to show we honored your choice. If you reply STOP, we won't text that number again unless you opt back in.

How we protect it

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. No website or transmission is completely secure, which is one more reason not to send confidential details through the form.

Your choices and how to make a request

You may ask what information we have about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or withdraw your consent. We will honor these requests from anyone, wherever they live, except where the law or our professional duties require us to keep the information (for example, conflict-check records and client files).

To make a request, call (801) 255-2102, email BrianCoutts@NuttallBrown.com, or write to Privacy Requests, Nuttall Brown & Coutts, 6925 Union Park Center, Suite 210, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84047. We will verify your identity before acting and will respond within 45 days. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will answer the appeal within 45 days. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your written permission. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Do Not Track

Your browser may send a "Do Not Track" signal. This site does not use advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites. Any analytics we use measure use of this site only, and the site responds to all visitors the same way whether or not a Do Not Track signal is sent.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13. If a case involves a child, a parent or guardian should contact us.

Texting terms

Program: Nuttall Brown & Coutts Text Alerts.

If you check the optional texting box on our form, Nuttall Brown & Coutts may text you at the number you gave about your inquiry, including with automated technology. Messages come from Nuttall Brown & Coutts. Texting consent is optional and is not a condition of hiring the firm. You can still submit the form without it.

  • Message frequency varies.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or tell us in any reasonable way that you want the messages to stop. We will send one message confirming your opt-out.
  • Reply HELP for help, or call (801) 255-2102.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers or text-messaging opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with service providers that help us send messages.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If we make a significant change in how we use consumer health data, we will ask for your consent again.
